# E-invoicing for Stripe compared

German Stripe users now have several ways to get to an e-invoice. This overview puts them side by side, based on what the providers state on their websites and in the Stripe App Marketplace, as of October 30, 2026. Where a provider does not say, the table shows "not stated". Prices are plus VAT.

There are also general invoicing programs with e-invoicing, such as easybill, sevdesk and Lexware Office. They replace Stripe as the invoicing system instead of complementing it.

## Where BelegDock is ahead

- **Validation you can trace.** Every XRechnung goes out only after passing the official KoSIT validator. Which version that is, and which cases BelegDock stops, is public on the [scope page](/en/scope). None of the other offerings above publishes this.
- **XRechnung in UBL format**, as many invoice receiving systems expect, plus the unchanged Stripe PDF in the same email.
- **Read-only access.** BelegDock changes nothing in your Stripe account.
- **One API for everything outside Stripe.** Shops and your own systems issue invoices with gap-free numbers, e-invoice, PDF and archive.
- **No balancing line item.** If Stripe's amounts do not add up to the cent, BelegDock sends nothing instead of hiding the difference.

## When another tool fits better

- You ship **goods to other EU countries** or are a **small business** under § 19 UStG (Kleinunternehmer): Exportly covers these cases according to its own statements; BelegDock stops them.
- Your customers require **Peppol** or are based in countries with a Peppol mandate, such as Belgium: Billit is a Peppol access point itself.
- You only need **a few ZUGFeRD PDFs** and no validation with a published validation tool: the free apps may be enough then.

## Be careful with promises

No software can promise that invoices are "legally watertight", "compliant with the law" or "GoBD-certified": there is no official certification for e-invoices, and whether an invoice is correct for tax purposes depends on your details. That is why BelegDock states exactly what is checked and what is not.
